Sameer Khakhar was a Bollywood film and television actor who had notable roles in TV shows such as “Shrimaan Shrimati” and films such as “Parinda” and Salman Khan- Star “Jai Ho”.

His most memorable film role was as an alcoholic businessman kidnapped by Kamal Haasan in the dialogue-free Pushpaka Vimana (1987).

He was best known for his role as Khopdi in the 1986 TV show ‘Nukkad’ on DD National. In addition, he co-starred in the Kannada film “Pushpaka Vimana” with Kamal Haasan, Ramya Krishnan, Amala Akkineni, Farida Jalal, and others.

Throughout his lengthy career, he collaborated with a number of well-known Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda, Amrish Puri, Dharmendra, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Ajay Devgan, Johnny Lever, and others.

Sameer Khakhar, best known for his role as Khopdi in the hit ’80s TV show ‘Nukkad,’ died on Wednesday morning at the age of 71. Ganesh Khakhar, his younger brother, stated that he was taken to MM Hospital in Borivali, Mumbai, after complaining of respiratory problems.

.The actor was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit but died due to multiple organ failure. His final rites will be performed at a crematorium on Wednesday. Hansal Mehta, the director, recalled his college days and revealed that his close friends still refer to him as Khopdi, after Khakhar’s iconic character.
